An Urban Tale

A young guy, fresh out of college, was dating a girl from work. She was way out of his league, but he thought he could handle it. Gradually though his behaviour became more and more controlling, until one day his jealousies caused such a row that she told him to get out of her life forever. Distraught, he stalked the girl until she was forced to get a restraining order against him.
In the grips of obsession, the guy refused to let that stop him. Late one night he went to her house to beg for a second chance. He’d stopped a few feet away so that he could compose himself as he needed to be calm if he was going to get her to talk to him. All of a sudden rage took over and he was hammering hard on her door. When she didn’t answer, he banged on the windows, shouting for her attention. Still being ignored, and pulling his mobile out of his pocket, he ran to the back of the house, picked up a large potted plant and launched it through the patio doors.
Just minutes later the street was filled with the sound of sirens as police rushed to the scene. They were answering two calls. One from a girl scared out of her wits by her ex-boyfriend who was breaching the conditions of his restraining order. The second from a guy who’d gone to his ex-girlfriend’s house only to spot a knife wielding intruder lurking in the shadows of her bedroom.
The police arrived too late to save either of them.
